Rewards for high achievers
Interestingly enough, Jimmy doesn’t have a stamina meter like in other Rockstar games. He doesn’t get tired or need to stop to catch a breather. Instead, Jimmy’s stamina and overall stats are determined by how much sleep he gets. Getting a good night’s sleep will keep Jimmy on his toes and well alert for his classes. For those thinking that sleep is worthless, they will be appropriately met with a blurry screen, slow running speeds, and an overall lack of responsive control over Jimmy. So say your prayers, eat your vitamins, and get a goodnight sleep so you can be the best and brightest Bullworth has to offer.
Players who also manage to pull off amazing academic feats, spectacular social quests, or simply do well enough in the game to retrieve a reward...can place their items in Jimmy’s room. Successfully completing tasks for individuals or acquiring specific items on a mission, or errand(s), will grant Jimmy with a trophy for his efforts. Each of Jimmy’s accomplishments can also be viewed via the detailed stat tracking, which shows players’ progress, etc. Or players can view accomplishments in Jimmy’s room, where the trophies are mounted up for all to see.
A bully for all seasons
Bullworth Academy is not a single-dimension atmosphere. By that, I mean the school will change according to events and seasons. As mentioned, Bully will incorporate a semi-real-time clock for gauging timed events. However, the clock goes for more than just a day-to-day regiment. Weeks will pass; months will pass; seasons will pass; years will pass. The neat thing about Bully is that during specific times of a season/month, events like Easter, Christmas or Halloween will affect the general atmosphere of the academy. What’s more, is that weather effects will also come into play. Shoveling snow, raking leaves and mowing lawns will take place according to each season, and certain missions or events will be affected by the time progression as well.
With bike racing, school ground fights, gangs, social cliques, nerds, classes, upgradeable stats, customizable appearances, and too many more features to simply list in one sentence, it looks like Bully is going to be a classic Rockstar masterpiece. The game is baked entirely in controversy and seems like it would taste more like a good day of fun than an instrument for societal anarchy. Regardless, this PS2-exclusive will be hitting shelves just before the holiday season, on October 16th. Be sure to stay tuned in with VGcore.com for more information and news as Rockstar’s Bully nears its release.
