Yuke's Company of America, and an official sponsor of the D1 Professional Drift Grand Prix Series, today announced D1 Grand Prix, their professional drift racing simulation for the PlayStation 2, is now shipping to stores nationwide.
D1 Grand Prix simulates drifting, a racing style that originated in Japan and is quickly becoming the hottest trend in U.S. racing. Drift racers purposefully put their cars into controlled slides, "drifting" around corners at up to 85 mph. Unlike traditional automobile races, drift races are judged not just on speed, but on style.
With a cutting-edge physics engine, hundreds of customization options, and six diverse play modes, D1 Grand Prix brings gamers all the flashy excitement of drifting, without the danger or burnt-rubber smell.
Game features include:
- 12 Driving Circuits from past D1 competitions including Odaiba, Tsukuba Circuit, Autopolis, SUGO, Fuji Speedway and more.
- 30 licensed vehicles to choose from.
- The most realistic drifting physics engine ever in a video game.
- In-depth tutorial teaches players the art of drifting.
- 2005 D1 Grand Prix car stats, rules, racers and racing circuits
- Compete in official day and unofficial night races.
- Enhanced commentary engine lets players hear what the three judges have to say in real time.
- Six modes of play: D1 Grand Prix, Time Attack, Survival Mode, Battle Mode, Xtreme Mode, Free Run Theater (unlockable movies of actual footage of the D1 Grand Prix).
